Understanding the End of your Copier Lease

There is a lot to make sure that you understand when it comes to your copier lease. Many people only skim over the parts that they think are important and end up missing important details. This can lead to you paying much more over time than you should be. One of the most overlooked parts is understanding the end of your copier lease. Luckily, we are here to help you know what to pay attention to.

When we say the end of your copier lease, we are talking about what happens when your lease is about to run out. It’s not as easy as just letting your leasing company come and pick your machine up. There are things that you are responsible for.

  1. Look into automatic rollover.  If this is in your lease then you are going to need to terminate the lease at some point before your final days. If you do not then your leasing company is able to continue your lease for additional months. This can cause big problems in  your planning and budgeting.
  2. Know who is in charge of shipping. The burden of shipping usually falls on the person who leased the copier. Your leasing company will not just come and pick up your machine for you. Make sure that you plan for this and set up a pick-up early. You will be able to get a much better price if you get ahead of this before it’s too late.
  3. Know how to package everything correctly. This can be as simple as putting toner in plastic bags or putting a paper tray in separately. If you don’t follow these rules then you will get fined by your leasing company.

Make sure that you take the time to understand everything in your copier lease. You are signing an agreement that says that you will do what you are responsible for. If you don’t follow the rules at the end of your lease then you can end up paying silly fees that you never planned on.
